Tips for Layering Medium Hairstyles

Tips for Layering Medium Hairstyles

If you’ve never had layers, then layering medium hairstyles is something that might seem like a big step for you—or it might be something that you want to do right before prom or the like as to give your hair a new spin. So the question is—what can you do in order to layer your medium hairstyle…and how can you maintain it on prom night?
First of all, it is recommended that you get your hair styled and layered about a week before you finally go to prom. There are several reasons for this, such as:
  1. It will make it way easier to style since it will have settled down by that time
  2. It won’t be quite as fluffy and way out there as on the very first day.
  3. You’ll have time to play with and practice styling your hair, which is one of the hardest steps.
Next, choose a stylist who has a lot of experience with hair that isn’t normally layered. The main thing to keep in mind is that—whether you go to a stylist or not—your hair will most likely stick up or curl up a little where it is layered. This is simply because there is less weight on that part of the hair and therefore it will want to spring up.
You may also need to shampoo your hair more often the first few weeks—simply because your hair will still be making oil for many more locks than you have. If you have dry hair normally, but you’re finding that you’re having oil problems after the layering, try conditioning your hair first, letting it sit for a few minutes, and then shampooing. This will help keep some of the moisture in and get rid of the excess. In short, you won’t have to worry about drying out or over-moisturizing your hair.
Medium hairstyles are perfect for a variety of face shapes—however, they’re also great because you don’t have to spend quite as much time teasing and playing with them. If your layers grow out, they won’t look frumpy or odd like they would with a short haircut and they won’t disappear like with long hair.
A few tips for styling your layered medium hairstyles on prom night:
1. You may need several bobby pins. The layers will more than likely make a ponytail a little bit awkward looking and even go as far as to give you weird fly-aways and the like. In short, you might want to stick to a bun or something else that is easily controlled.
  1. Make sure that you have all of the products that you need—they can be borrowed (if needed), but make sure that you’re ready to go on the night of prom.
  2. Have your hairstyles somewhat planned out and practice them before you finally go to prom. This will make it much easier to get everything together on prom night.
Finally, just have fun layering your hair. Medium hairstyles are perfect for layers
